Port Officer

The Port Officer reports to the Technical Service Manager Fertilizers.

As Port Officer you optimize the supply chain processes of our fertilizer products in the ports. Aim to ensure that the product and related activities meets legal and OCI requirements regarding logistic optimization and QESSH, in order to secure a strong quality brand and good customer relations. Prevent pro-actively the occurrence of quality issues throughout the supply chain during: transport, loading, unloading of vessels and storage of fertilizers product.

Your key responsibilities in this position:

  • Prevents QESSH related risks of end product by cooperating with involved parties (carrier, warehousing staff, stevedores, surveyor organizations etc.) Therefor analyzes and maintain/improve the supply chain of shipped product.
  • Supervises pro-actively loading and discharging of vessels and barges. In case of issues, advises solutions.
  • Organizes and influences in good cooperation with our stevedore partners the handling and storage of fertilizers to optimize QESSH and logistics also in case of projects.
  • Solve issues in case of product quality and quantity issues. Act as trouble shooter.

Focal point for all logistic processes and projects related to the ports for internal and external stakeholders.

Your Profile

We are looking for motivated candidates with Bsc level in Supply Chain. Next to that it is important that you have at least 5 years of experience in a Supply Chain environment and in-depth knowledge in the Supply Chain Processes and have affinity with Project Management. Furthermore, you have excellent oral and written communication skills in English and Dutch and strong negotiating and analytical skills, as well as skills in MS Office and SAP are a pro. Customer and product handling related experience in the fertilizer industry would be an advantage.

As a Port Officer you have a hands-on mentality, good interpersonal skills, decisive, but tactful, independent and self-supporting, flexible and solution oriented. You are willing to travel on a regular basis.
