Well-trained technicians are important to OCI Nitrogen. That’s why we organize activities that we hope will inspire young people to study technology and engineering.

Limburg Process Technology & Maintenance Foundation
OCI Nitrogen is affiliated with the Limburg Process Technology and Maintenance Foundation. The organization’s annual Process Technology Week acquaints more than 700 pre-vocational and high school students with process technology. Our process operators are on hand to guide them through various activities and help them discover what the work involves. We also run an Intern for a Day program and offer students internships.

Collaboration with Arcus College Heerlen
During Arcus College’s introduction week, OCI Nitrogen opens its doors to first-year students enrolled in its Process Technology course. We also participate in the Arcus College Technology Department’s annual Open Day.

Some 55 local primary schools get acquainted with technology every year thanks to Chemelot2Discover. We developed this educational program along with the Chemelot-based companies DSM, EdeA, Intertek, ARLANXEO, SABIC and Sitech Services. It allows children aged 10 to 12 to experiment with chemistry, technology and science. The companies involved familiarize children with the Chemelot site and encourage them to develop their talent in science, chemistry and technology.

OCI Nitrogen also participates in the nation-wide Jet-Net initiative. Jet-Net lets high school students see for themselves how challenging, interesting and relevant technology is, not only to society but also to their own lives and future.

OCI Nitrogen looks beyond the Dutch borders and cooperates with schools in Belgium. Groups of final-year students from University Colleges Leuven-Limburg (Diepenbeek) and Sint-Jozefinstituut Bokrijk visit us every year and we welcome a number of interns from these schools.
